The protection of your personal data matters to us. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for website analytics, on entering into or performing a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) for enquiries sent through the contact form, and on our legitimate interest in a secure and functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f)) for hosting and embedded videos.

Under Swiss law we process personal data in good faith, proportionately and only for the purposes named here.

This website is hosted by Hostinger. When you open a page, the provider records technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, page requested, browser type) in server log files. This data serves the secure and trouble-free operation of the site and is deleted automatically by the provider according to its own schedule. It is not combined with any other data.

If you use the contact form, your details (name, email address, optional phone number, selected category and message) are transmitted to us by email via the Web3Forms service. The provider processes those details on our behalf before they reach our inbox.

The data is used exclusively to handle your enquiry. It is not used for advertising and never sold.

To analyse and improve this website we use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics uses cookies and comparable technologies and records usage data such as pages visited, time spent, approximate location, device and browser. IP addresses are truncated in the process. Data may be transmitted to Google servers, including in the USA.

In the EU, the EEA and the United Kingdom nothing is measured until you agree in the notice at the bottom of the page. Until then Google Analytics is not loaded and no data is sent. In Switzerland and the rest of the world, measurement starts when you open the website.

Google Analytics deletes user level data after the period set on the property. The default is two months, with a maximum of 14 months.

You can change your decision further down this page at any time. You can also block collection with Google's browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or through your browser's cookie settings.

The home page and the portfolio pages embed videos. They are delivered through Vimeo (Vimeo.com, Inc., New York, USA).

Loading happens when you open the page the video sits on. Only in the portfolio overview does a tile wait until it scrolls into view. Vimeo thereby receives your IP address along with technical details about your browser and device, cookies may be set, and this involves a transfer to the USA.

We embed Vimeo in its more data-frugal form, with the «dnt=1» parameter, which switches off tracking. The films do start on their own, though, so the connection to the provider's servers is made either way.

The clips run without sound and without controls. If your device asks for reduced motion, no video is loaded on the home page or in the galleries at all. A film is then only requested if you deliberately open a video tile. Either way, you can prevent them from loading by blocking third party content or cookies in your browser.

Operating the website itself does not set any cookies. Cookies and comparable technologies may be set by Google Analytics, where measurement runs under the rules described above, and by the embedded Vimeo videos. No user profiles are created for advertising purposes.

We keep personal data only for as long as the purpose requires. Enquiries sent through the contact form and the correspondence arising from them are kept until the matter is settled, and afterwards for as long as statutory retention rules require, in Switzerland usually ten years for business records. Server log files and analytics data are deleted by the respective providers according to their own schedules.

You have the right to information about the personal data we process about you, as well as to its correction, deletion and the restriction of processing. You may object to processing and, where the GDPR applies, request your data in a common format (data portability).

Consent given for website analytics can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future, directly below on this page. For everything else, a message to hello@nicolaskrusi.com is enough.
